I work in the credit card processing industry so it is my job to be on top of payment news. One of the things that I monitor closely is mobile payments, and this includes NFC (near field communication) payments. This is technology that we are going to see sometime in the near future. We will be able to wave our cell phones in front of a scanner and pay for purchases and services just like that; with a single swipe. It is really exciting.

NFC is only in its infancy here in America but some companies are taking notice and getting ready for it. One of those companies is McDonald’s. Even if you don’t love their food or think that they contribute to society’s obesity, you have to admire their willingness to change with the times. Some companies don’t respond quickly enough when technology changes and they get left out in the dust. McDonald’s is not like that.
